Zou and Lou

Zou and Lou is a collaboration between brother and sister: Jacques (aka Zou, text) and Aurélie (aka Lou, illustration). Born and raised in a Franco-American household in downtown New York, we have a deep, off-beat appreciation for everything from Baudelaire to Biggie Smalls. Since we were in diapers, we’ve shared the same sense of humor, growing up on Eloise, Tintin and Art Spiegelman. We started Zou and Lou while living in a Bushwick loft to capture the idiosyncrasies of bohemian nyc life. With a focus on gender roles, nightlife, the arts and anything that tickles our fancy, we turn our observations into comics, artwork, greeting cards and all kinds of stuff.

Immersed in the NYC art world, Aurélie Bernard Wortsman is the Director of Andrew Edlin Gallery, specializing in Outsider Art and Art Brut. When she’s not drawing, she is championing artists and estates, organizing exhibitions, and representing the gallery at art fairs both in the U.S. and abroad.

As an illustrator, Aurélie’s work explores the intersection of the mundane and the surreal. In 2025, she became a member of the Society of Illustrators. Discover more of her illustrations here.

Alongside comics, Jacques Wortsman capitalizes on his funny bone working as a copywriter at ad agency Droga5. He makes a living writing scripts and headlines for the likes of Volvo, Chase and Meta, but whenever he can get a second he’s sending joke ideas to his sister.
